I got my hands on a macro lens yesterday so I took the day off and spent it taking macro shots. I had SO MUCH FUN and I learned a ton. After reviewing my photos (even the ones that I think are my best in this post) I see things that I could improve upon. I will say that picking a super bright yellow and red rose as one of my flowers was not the best idea--all one color would've been better for my first time. Also, I wish I could've done this outside because I could've gotten nice creamy bokeh but it was really windy, so I was inside and didn't have much green in the background.

Sorry for posting so many photos. Since it was my first try, I wanted to choose more than a few to see what you all thought.

Thanks for looking!

4. I plan to fix the yellow spots at the bottom right-but I'm at work and can't right now:

8. This was from the 75mm end of my Tamron lens, so not really a macro, but I like it:

Thanks for letting me share!

Some really sweet shots. #3 and #7 are beautiful, love the colours. I think #7 could have been helped with alittle more DOF and it seems alittle soft, although this kinda works as it shows how delicate the flower is.

I dont think the composition for #6 works all that well.

I like how the green background in #1 provides a contrast with the flower.

Thanks!!

I agree with you on #7. I definitely struggled with DOF a bit...still learning. I also need to remember to zoom in while reviewing my photos on the camera screen, because when the picture is so small it can be hard to tell if everything is in focus or not.

Thanks for your thoughts on the composition for #6, I'll keep that in mind.

Is this better composition for flower #6?

these.. pictures... are... making.. me.... sneeze!

Oh no, sorry! Just like the macro shots with all of the bugs in them are making me squeamish haha!

really like shots number 2 and 3

especially the water drops on number 3 :)

very nice first attempt at macro photography, keep it up

Pretty good for a first go! 2,3,and 6 are my faves. Keep at it. With better, prettier light and more opportunities to use the new lens, you are sure to create some real winners.
