First Shot: C&C Welcome

First shot with my new Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens. Its attached to my D5000. Havent really had much experience with photography so I thought I would get started with this camera and work on getting the basics down with a prime lens.

This shot came from today's walk around the city where I go to college. I edited it in Lightroom 2. Not to sure how it turned out. Comments and appreciated.

Im not to worried about composition right now more so the technical aspect of it. Exposure and such. Any comments on that?
