First Shots with D50, C&C Welcome!

Hello everyone,

I purchased a D50 about a week ago, and wanted to get some critiques on my first shots... Here they are:

1. Sunset off Vancouver Island

2. Playing with macro...

3. Piano Keys-I wanted to have fun with depth of field.

C&C per req:

1. A nice sunset picture; two thoughts (1) If you don't straighten it soon, all the water's going to run out of the picture and onto my desk, and (2) Always try and avoid centering your main subject, use the rule of thirds.

2. Good exposure, sharp, good image.

3. A little too shallow; it's generally better to have 3-4 keys in focus, usually from the very foreground "inwards"

I have to agree with tirediron, his critique seems right on. Your shots look really good. I think you will really like your D50. It was my first DSLR as well. Great camera.

I'm starting to get the hang of the rule of thirds, and how and when to use certain settings now... I'll see if I can dig up some other new ones.
