first time post

Hello,

Been a member and lurker here for a very long time and have learned alot
thought I would start to get active an post a recent shot

This was part of a senior shoot I did, this photo was a request from the mother to have 1 photo she could frame an display on her dresser
she loved it, but now that its done looking back Im not to sure about the vignette I added

Thoughts?

Well, one thing about photography for clients is if they love them, you did your job.

However, from a photographers standpoint, I honestly thing the vignetting looks a bit tacky. For one thing, the vignetting isn't equal around the subject... its starting to cover his shoe and bottom of his leg.

I do like a very light vignetting in certain pictures. Just doesn't do it for me... just my 2 cents worth.

I really don't like it, never do it to any others not sure why I did here.. I even did a selective color shot an I never do them either...

I'm not a fan of selective color much... but I do think it works in this photo ^. I really like this one actually, the lines draw your eye to the subject. I'd like to see it in full color or B&W!

My feeling is that there is enough darkness in the background and may be for that reason vignetting did not work here...; if you ask about your position in the first image i feel you could have positioned yourself better ; presently the space behind you is wasted

I very much liked your style and selective colouring in the second image. The thing is that the selective colour looks quite natural that only after reading i realized that it is so

Again thank you, Last night I was almost tempted to open up the first one again and re-edit it, the only other version of that one I have is the printable size and the RAW file.. but really if they don't ask for 1 I really don't wanna hahaha

But here is the other version of the selective color notice the crop difference
this version wasn't even part of the proofs.. they had me shoot 3 different days with the only real difference was a different shirt I took near 500 shots total
I showed them about half of an they picked 20 of their favorites..
For the record I am by no means a professional, Im just a photo junkie that people offer money to do what I like doing lol.. I even got paid huge money to go shoot a car show I would have been at with my camera anyway
