Good point in terms of overall body shape it is sort of like a pike; it ALSO looks, generically, like chain pickerel, EXCEPT for the placement of the pectoral fins on the body...that is the main feature I was looking at, along with the tail's shape/degree of forkedness/size in relation to body, and also, the overall "silvery" color makes me think whitefish. But yeah, the generic body shape is pike- or pickerel-like....but I think the pectoral fin placement rules out the pike-like fishes.

Well aren't we in a pickerel now!

I'm gonna guess it's a herring. Seems to be the right time of year...

Didn't think of that one Kris, with 4 Osprey there now I should spend some more time by the river :thumbup:
