fixing stuck pixels in post

just noticed one in my jpegs. I saw on a handful of sites that if you shoot raw, most post production tools will map out the pixel and get rid of it. Is this something that literally happens automatically or will I need to mess with settings/enable something? just trying to get a clear understanding of all this before I make the jump to raw and grab a copy of lightroom. thanks.
