flash firing 1 out of 5 times

Ok i want to shoot toniht. I have a Sunpak flash for canon. worked ok for my powershot SX10 but fires up 1 out of 5 times (when ready light is on.) with my new Rebel Xs

Were you taking pictures in a burst mode?

don't think so... but .... i'll look right now...

I tend to put my camera in burts mode ieaven if i don't need it I get trigger happy ... love the sound!!

Which flash do you have? What settings are you shooting on? That and, never heard anything good about those Sunpak flash units; it's better to stay with solid brands like the camera manufacturer's own flash units, or things like Vivitar.

Hey, I had the same problem one time, and it frustrated me to no end. Turns out, the batteries I thought were fully charged, were not. The flash would fire, but only every few shots. Give em a charge and see what happens.
