Focusing experiment. Interpretations?

You could have condensed all 3 of those posts into one thread >_> Also, what exactly was the point of doing this?

Bingo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said the exact same thing in another post of hers.
Therefore it's time for a little honesty at risk of hurting feelings.
By nature I try to be at least decent. I am all for those who want to learn. I've been there. I'm still there.
Take this for what it's worth AMOMENT.
I'm all for your learning photography. YOU HAVE BECOME ANNOYING as if you seek attention like nothing I've ever seen on this forum.
You're intentionally drawing attention to yourself by making multiple posts on the same subject and asking questions that you could easily find the answer to with very little research.
I offered you what I consider good advice on another thread of yours " sometimes you have to trust your eyes for compositional purposes" which you Ignored.
The camera is not going to do everything for you every time you want it to.

As I understand it you'd like to become a professional photographer so you can spend more time with your children.
Nothing wrong with that. I applaud you for it. Realize that you're going down a long damn road with a lot of bumps and a hell of a lot of competition.
Every last one of us who has tried to help you and given you advice , has seen all this before from Mom's with cameras. In other words , you're beating people over the head for your wants, and attention.
If I could wave a magic wand and make you a pro right this instant , I would. If for no other reason than to spare the forum. So there you have it. I'm mean and nasty, right?

Someone had to say it.

Lol. I have to laugh because there is such a thing as road rage and apparently TPF rage exists as well. I really HOPE and DOUBT that you would speak like this to people in the REAL world? It's called righteousness. Listen, if you find my posts annoying then why are you reading and spending time responding to them? It takes alot less energy to just keep scrolling right?

I think you are analyzing my posts a little too much. lol. I am not trying to get attention from some RANDOM PHOTOGRAPHY FORUM. I'm on here 2-3 times a week studying up on a hobby. I'm not going to even entertain some childish and ridiculous remark like this. You are clearly being inflammatory for ATTENTION PURPOSES. I just want to understand more. Sometimes it requires more than one post. But, according to you, learning to "focus right" gives me some sort of secondary gain. Kind of funny.

I appreciate your "honesty" but don't really see the point to it. Just don't respond! If my 2-3 posts , 2-3 times a week is so "out of the norm" whether it's about the same thing or not, I am surprised, but don't really care. I want to learn. I don't understand everything and sometimes I need to revisit things. Don't we all? Anyway, I am an adult and I am disappointed in myself that I have already entertained some internet confrontation to the extent that I have already.

I want to study photography. I have a career already. I'm exploring something else. Sometimes I need clarification, and more clarification. Photography is as new as it gets to me; a foreign language that I'm intrigued by. If it makes me a bad person to be persistant, I can live with that.

PS: There are so many VERY HELPFUL and FABULOUS people on this site. But damn, there are alot of hostils and snobs! I could throw my professional and life acheivements out there in a derogatory manner in an attempt to try to make you feel like some sort of inept, but I choose to be decent. For the record I am a published Children's book author and have my doctorate in psychology. I have taught and volunteered throughout many schools and never ONCE have I been that "shi**y" to ANYONE who simply desired knowledge. I don't NEED photography but I enjoy it and would love to possibly "retire" with it.

Again, please don't waste your time with "annoying/attention seekers" like me.

MLEEK thank you for being humane! You are clearly respectable! What I learned was that even a foot and a slight increase or decrease in aperture can make a HUGE differnece in DOF and focus. I thought my posting my experiment that perhaps I would be HELPFUL to anyone on here who was as beginner as me as to clearly show them these differences. Apparently, I could not have been anymore far off. WOW! AGAIN!

There are indeed internet snobs. However, if TPF is just "a random forum" to you, then you should seek help elsewhere. TPF is a free education for people like you who want to learn photography. There are surely people who are more experienced than you, just like there are people that are at your level. People tend to be snobbish because often times, people lack common e-courtesy (i.e posting 3 posts about the same thing, when they could be condensed into one) And also, (not trying to judge you/ hold grudges, just making a point) your first few posts on this forum were pretty annoying - all caps, misspelling, etc. You have to cooperate with other (maybe more snobbish) members sometimes if you want to benefit from TPF. There will always be someone who makes assholic remarks; welcome to the internet.

Just try not to annoy people who get annoyed easily, and you will be fine. No sense in trying to change their mind, because you will end up dealing with them anyways.

Now, enjoy this picture of a Dogguin.

For what it's worth, please be a little more thoughtful in how you address and respond to people. I work with many teens who are victim of bullying and so many of them have such a low self worth. You never know who is really on these sites and for the sake of perhaps preserving a person's respect, maybe you could be slightly less accusational and deleterious. Some people are not as fortunate to have as great as audacity as you to be able to hide behind a computer and start throwing around attacks on why people are "REALLY" on this site or whether or not they have exceeded the quota for acceptable amounts of posts.

Whoever thought that photography could be this vicious. I always thought that it was such a complex but beautiful thing.

I am not justifying what people post, simply saying that as an experienced user of the internets, I know exactly how ferocious and assholeish people can be. I am also not saying you are posting for attention, but rather that you should be aware that people will judge you based off of your contributions to [this] forum, and that if you don't want to deal with that, you should be careful how you post. I haven't had a "vicious" experience at all, and I follow my own suggestions (as illustrated in my last reply or 2)

You should see the rest of the internet. Excuse my Franglish, but this is chicken **** compared to most of the other things I read.

That's what I was looking for... I wanted to know what you managed to teach yourself with this exercise and you did a great job.
I am not sure if the second half of this was aimed at me, but I kind of hope not. It was a legitimate question. Me telling you what you should have learned wouldn't be nearly as productive as you telling me that you managed to teach yourself exactly what you needed to know!

I have found that no matter how I do things on here (or anyone), it is never correct or up to "par." In the beginning, I was told to not post more than 5 pics per thread and to make it clear to be "respectful" of people who are reading it. That is why I posted these last few pics the way that I did. I tried to be "respectful" by making it easier to see. The ONE DESPERATE NIGHT I had posting with tons of embarassing misspellings I was simply having one of those HUMAN moments. I was anxious because of a shoot I had been asked to do and was in the midst of nursing a child, cooking dinner, and dealing with some other stressors. I apologized shortly after for offending so many people. I was able and BIG enough to apologize when I was wrong. I've yet to see ANYONE on here do the same when they have been horrid.

I am interested in this site because despite some of the cruelty in which I have never experienced on ANY FORUM, it is very informative and there are some wonderful and GIVING people on here who are so generous with their knowledge of their craft.

Oh, for Heaven's sake, everyone. Just stop! This is like living with my 15 and 16 year old. I come here to escape their constant bitching at each other!

Now just smile and agree to disagree. Go to your respective corners and have a drink. Or two.

Tevo loves you. Just trying to prevent assholes from being assholes. That's all

MLEEK....nothing but positive things to you and SO MANY THANK YOU'S!!! I am just taken back. I have been a member of so many forums during my career and have networked with so many fabulous psychologists and authors within my field. I have also been on the other side and have had to deal with those who were not as informed. I honestly have never spoken like this, EVEN ON THE INTERNET, to anyone. I think in some ways this brings me comfort and sadness at the same time. I am comforted by the fact that maybe I have some sort of universal respect for people but I am sadened that it is not as universal.

TEVO...I understand what you are saying. lol. Apparently I can succeed and thrive in the real world but not the internet. lol, haha. I can live with that too. Imagine if it were the latter. No hard feelings. Thanks for your time and info so far. I came on here, humbled with my little to no knowledge of photography and have been lambasted over and over again.

Can I have a sprite?

MLEEK...agree! I have a tween who I am somehow starting to identify with during these posts. (hangs head in shame) lol. TEVO...XOXOXO!

Sure, Tevo. You can have whatever you want. As for me, I am having Tequila. Straight. Maybe with a lime. Cuz that's what this place'll do to ya! LOL!

Yeah, AMOMENT... this is really like reasoning with those kids as to WHY they have to clean their rooms and WHY the dirty socks should go IN the basket instead of NEXT to it.
Can you guess what went on in my house tonight???
