Footloose

My daughter is in a kids production of Footloose. I'm being supportive of the lady who runs the production house or whatever you call it and offered to take pictures. I took some this evening and in addition to the usual "just trying to make sure I get shots of all the kids" I'm also trying to get some more artistic shots when I can.

I'll post up a few of interest as I come across them, but I thought this one was interesting...

Really loving my cam, btw... I'll post up some of the ISO 6400 shots I took. Super impressive.

Two thoughts, one for each image. Compositionally, the first doesn't work for me because of the shadowy figure behind your son. She is too brightly lit to be ignored and toning her down to nearly nothing leaves a huge empty space which would or could be equally distracting. I did a photoshop fix (so-so) but it is somethig to look for in future shots of taking her, flipping her horiz and moving her to the other side with some cloning, etc, cropping closer to the boy's back. For me, this helps to center his gaze to the nicely lit girls in the center.



In the second image, my only quirk was having the grafitti on the fore wall brighter than the two kids. So, I just toned it down a bit.

Yes and it took about 8 shots to get the one I wanted with him looking JUST the way I wanted him to. (I was at the mercy of his whim- I wasn't directing him)
