This color problem of mine is really starting to annoy me! :irked: As I have posted before, images in NX 2 look different than they do everywhere else. I spent about 20 minutes adjusting the WB, contrast, ect of a moon shot I took after getting home from work today until I had a nice, bright, silver moon. However, when I upload it to Photobucket I get this:

IT'S FREAKING BLUE!!! :gah:

I've tried changing colorspaces, it's not the monitor because I'm looking at both images on the same monitor, it's not a browser thing because it is also blue in GIMP. I've wondered all over Google reading articles about how images look different in Flickr vs LR3 and Firefox vs Photoshop and I have yet to find an answer. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them. You don't even have to give me the answer, just call me a dumb!@#$ and point me in the right direction.

I've noticed that this happens to me as well! Not with the moon in particular, but with my child photography. I edit the pictures exactly how I want them and then when I upload them to share, they always look a little different and it really bothers me too. I don't have a reliable answer as to why, but I always assumed that it was because when we are editing the picture it is at its maximum size, but when we upload it to these websites it compresses the picture during uploading and this changes the coloring for some reason. I don't know if that is accurate at all lol but that's the explanation I give myself every time this happens to me.

I know I am of no help, but at least you aren't alone!

There should be a way to selection a sample to set an neutral to do WB quickly...

Immediate thought is colourspace: Abode RGB vs sRGB
That being said Firefox (and Chrome) display both correctly (IE will not). Not sure if this will be related to what you are seeing but its all I know off for colours being wrong.

The most noticable think I've noticed with any resizing in Flickr is a ridiculous amount of sharpening that gets applied.

Hi MBPhotography, I don't think resizing the image would change the colors, at least not as drastically as mine are. Hopefully we will both find a solution to our problem. If nothing else, misery loves company no?

tyler_h, I've messed with the colorspace on my camera and NX 2 with no results. I use Firefox and the colors are off in GIMP as well so I don't think its a browser thing. I'm pretty sure NX 2 is the problem I just don't know whats broken so I can't do research on how to fix it.

Do you have access to PS? You could try processing through ACR into PS (and setting ACR to create the .PSD in sRGB) and see if you run into any problems.

I don't know NX 2 so can't comment on how it works.

Don't have PS, planning to take a photography coarse in the fall at the state college and getting the student version. Trying to hold out with NX 2 until then.

So what programs are the colours good in?

Nothing I've opened it in show it other than blue (Paint, Windows Pic View, Microsoft Office Picture Viewer, Bridge, PS, FF)

NX 2 and windows photo viewer show the image as normal. Everything else I've tried shows it as blue.

Here is an image recorded as JPEG directly from camera, not RAW then converted to JPEG by NX 2 as the first image was.

Windows Photo Viewer doesn't display the first correctly at all; its stretches to screen width (normal height) when opened (under Windows 7 x64). Same for the second.

You're jpeg is also a little blue... (~200/217/235 versus ~195/220/250) assuming the moon should be grey (slightly orange maybe...).

Do those two show the same in NX 2?

Don't exactly have any points to help really, just things that might reveal the answer to someone else I guess...

They show very similar. Neither looks very blue. First one was shot with 'cloudy' WB and came out looking bright orange so I changed WB to 'tungsten' which made it look grey then converted to JPEG. The second was shot with WB already set to 'tungsten' and was shot with RAW + JPEG setting on camera. I then uploaded JPEG straight from camera without use of NX 2.

I was having this issue with Lightroom and my settings were either at AdobeRGB or ProPhotoRGB... I can't remember which. I switched the settings to sRGB and everything looked 'normal' on my end. Hope you find the issue!

Did photobucket make the moon oof also? jus'sayin, the blue color would be the least of my worries with that shot.

One out of focus shot or every single image a take not being displayed properly hmm... Yeah I think the latter is a bit more pressing. But thanks for the cheap shot, it helps break up the monotony of actually trying to solve the problem.

Check my bolded statement, no mention of 'every single image'. No need to get offended, just saying that on the shot you posted, the blue would have been the least of my worries. No cheap shot here, just the truth.
