Getting Closer

Actually Sparky that was only half a joke. The F2's or RB would be tank. But I've been seriously thinking of breaking out the 4x5 Linhof of Crown Graphic which would be tray..
Every time i start tinking with the RB or Bronica's, I think "why play around? If I'm actually going to play in film, and I have the equipment...why not go for broke". The LF is really what I miss with film. As far as LF with tray development, I have tanks and even have recently given away a tank, but for one or two exposures, i actually get better results in tray. You just have to be very organized. It's little dark in there.

Hey Sparky, don't be jealous. The big difference between you and I is, you're doing while I'm thinking :Hail.sml:

I ain't shootin' no 4by5, that's fer sure.

Burke James Press Camera 4x5 Large Format Parts | eBay

Looks as though you'd need a lens board and a lens. Bids start @ $10. B&J press cameras got a lot of grief because they were heavier than a Graflex but they were aluminum and pretty sturdy (I bought one because it had 20 holders and a tripod for just under a $100- pretty cool camera).

You ought to be able to get a lens/shutter and a few holders for around $150 if you don't mind a 135mm graflex lens or something along those lines. Won't be many movements though. A Schneider in the 150-180mm range with shutter should be under $250 and give you up to 5x7 coverage.

This should be a good lens Linhof Select Schneider Symmar 180mm F5 6 315mm F12 Convertible Lens for 4x5 | eBay and you could knock together a lens board pretty quickly.

The Shen Hao field camera's are beautiful

A wisner 5x7 makes me drool.

Don't tell us what an 8x10 makes you do.

Actually 8x10 doesn't do that much for me. 5x7 has about twice the area of a 4x5 and has a little better ratio for landscape. 8x10 is just huge both to carry and to develop not to mention the cost. If you don't mind cutting down your film for 5x7 you can get two sheets from a single 8x10 (choices are limited in 5x7) and the prices for the equipment are really out there.

If I were into contact printing then yes I'd be drooling over 8x10 but with a hybrid workflow not so much.

We have to meet somewhere, sometime. What, we are not much more than a couple hours away from each other. That darkroom far, far away is in Milton Delaware. I can bring the Calumet, we can lug around our hernia makers and make a day of it.

If you do, we demand pictures! :D

It's just a matter of when, not if, I get into LF shooting.

Speaking of which, do any of you LF types here know if a 4x5 daylight developing tank can be modified to take 2x3?
