composition might be a bit different, balance is off
Everything points to the center of the image but, on the left side there's a big white sign where my eyes goes first, because it is the brightest part. So I don't really know where to look.

The place is very promising. Is this the only shot you took ? This picture has no composition, my guess is, you tried to put too much into frame.

Ive just picked up one of those little cameras on holiday and shot 2 rolls using the in camera meter not sure it is right though

I believe the better picture would have been from the other side of the building and closer in. The sage brush in the foreground and the power lines coming down from the top are a distraction. It looks like a great place to make some photographs. Possible you have a few more negs. to work with.
