Glad This Year Is About Over.

It's been a long hard year of one thing after another. Now when I'm so close to seeing it in the rear view mirror, it bites me one more time. Somewhere in the last week, I've lost a lens, or someone has appropriated it :confusion:

. It wasn't an overly expensive piece, as I bought it used, but it was a favorite. I've only been one other place besides here at home with it, and I'm pretty sure it didn't disappear then, but have no way of knowing for sure. &^%^&* I'm (*&^%$% off. I've torn the place apart for the last 2 hrs.

I'm sure it'll pop up. I had my wide-angle zoom go missing for a few weeks this year. I tore apart the house...my camera bag like 6 times...the car. Eventually, my wife remembered she had put it "away" some place "safe".

While I'm not accusing your wife, I can't imagine it will stay gone too much longer.

@JonA_CT I have a suspicion that may have happened here, though my memory is getting worse by the day, so I have no basis to accuse her! It could have just as easily been me that put it somewhere it didn't belong.

You will find the lens approximately 5.67 seconds after you have just ordered or come home with a replacement.

It's the rule.

That's unfortunate. Personally I've lost my quick release attachment for my tripod and it's been like I can't go out because I keep forgetting to order a replacement or I'm at work or the weather sucks.

This year has been terribly mediocre for me, so I'll be glad to see the back of it too.

@limr Yep, that's why I have so many duplicates of tools in the shop. :-( Just did another pass through of all the places it should be, I mean it's a 50-200mm zoom, in a case. It should be easy to see right???

@weepete I used to get irritated at my fleet manager and good friend (who was quite a bit older than me)because of his memory lapses. Couldn't understand why he had problems juggling things like I did, and now that I've gotten older I wonder how he did what he did. LOL

Ugh. I have put things away and lost them so many times it's ridiculous. They do almost always turn up but there are still a few things that were never seen again! Check your car under the seats etc. in case it rolled out of the bag.

I swore up and down for like 4 years that "the neighbor kid" had stolen my 135mm f/2 AiS Nikkor lens. Huh....I found it in a box inside a ziplock bag, with the label "Kithen Stuff" on the outside of the moving box. I had, uh...put it there for so-called safe keeping. Also had a Nikon FM-2n in the box, and a couple junker lenses too. So...maybe there is hope still.

My condolences, I have also lost lenses and had them stolen, but that doesn't make you feel any better right now.

Lying in bed in that magical time right before daylight when I'm still mostly asleep but the mind is on heightened status, I suddenly knew where to look for the missing lens. I threw back the covers, crawled to the foot of the bed, and ran my hand down between the footboard and the "poofy" comforter my wife has to have. Lodged down deep was the missing lens in its case. Not sure how it got there nor why I thought to look there, but it's safely back in my bag now.

@Derrel Over the years my short term memory has really diminished. I've found that unless I have a "designated place" for things I end up wasting hours trying to find them. Heaven forbid I should ever hide something it would be the same as throwing it away because I'd never find it again.

Hmmmm - are you insinuating that as suspected, it was the wife's fault? That's a bit of a reach there smokey! LOL.
