Going to Ireland

Hey guys. Im new to the forum and had a question. I am going to Ireland for my honeymoon and I had very basic question. What camera would you recommend that I take along with me. I do not want an SLR, I know that they are good but a little pricey for a one time use type of situation. I was wondering what kind of camera that you all would recommend for someone that wants to take very good pictures and not have to buy an slr. As for price id like to keep it below 300.

Most current compact point and shoot cameras under $300 are just about equal, so you just need to find one that you like and the controls make sense to you.

LOL i know right. But alas I will be taking pictures of the Isle of Man TT race along with some of the countryside.

Making very good pictures is more about the skill and knowledge of the photographer than the camera used. Just like the racing bikes the riders will use in the TT. A knowledgeable and skilled rider will post a much quicker lap time than an uninformed/unskilled rider.

As mentioned pretty much any $300 P&S camera will perform like every other $300 P&S camera.

I'd personally go for a hybrid/bridge camera. The Nikon P500 or the Canon SX40 HS are the two that come to mind first. There may be updated models released on those, I haven't looked in a while. Even if you went with those if there are updates, they are outstanding cameras that you can learn to do all that a DSLR does as well as have mega zoom and point and shoot capabilities.

I hope you have booked, most people book years in advance, when i first started going i had to camp because every bed was taken and it took me years to get in a hotel, North West 200 is on in Northern Ireland 2 weeks before been there quite a few times
