In between showers of rain and hailstones just before storm Brendan blew in on Monday we got out on the boat to do a spot of fishing. We had 189 fish between 10 of us. My biggest was a nice fat fish of 6lb 7oz which feels bigger when you're hauling it up through 400ft of water. Hopefully the bigger ones will show this year.

Yeah, they'll pick up the discarded bits of bait and try snatching for the small fish that are returned. We were lucky enough to be joined by 3 sea eagles for a short while and the gulls all got a bit skittish. The eagles are wary of the boat and though I've seen them pick up a large carcass discarded from a big fish that was filleted on the boat, they keep their distance.

Thanks Kirk, finding a decent angle on a boat full of fishing anglers can be challenging, as is straight horizon!
