Good Neck Strap?

I seem to be in the minority here, but I have found the Nikon AN-4B (link) to be the best camera strap for me. I use them for many cameras, including my D3, 4x5s and heavy-ish medium format cameras like the Mamiya Press. There's no crass logo, and they are completely secure when used properly.

I use the Black Rapid RS-7 and use the "Brad" if I need to anchor the strap to my shoulder (I don't always clip the "Brad", but sometimes it's nice to have.)

A friend of mine has the Carry Speed equivalent. What I like about his strap is that it has an Arca-Swiss compatible plate that attaches the strap to the camera. If he decides to put the camera on a tripod or monopod, he doesn't have to remove the strap bolt. I wish I could get a plate that worked with my Black Rapid. Actually... I've heard this SO often that I'm really surprised Black Rapid doesn't offer something by now.

I shoot on a nikon D90 and my neck strap was bugging me. I went to a camera show they hold in San Diego every 3 month or so and I picked up a neoprene neck strap for 9 bucks and it feels great and it's really sturdy. I would say neoprene is the way to go but it seems blackrapids is pretty popular.

I have a neoprene strap, and as far as neck straps go, I definitely like neoprene. Sometimes when I'm going 3 cameras, I use a neoprene around whatever the smallest camera is around my neck.

For neck straps, I had a Tamrac Boomerang which was nice and stretchy (neoprene) with a wide area around the neck. I am 6ft and it was long enough to technically put across my chest although the camera would not hang very low. However, this was more comfortable when moving about shooting birds and kept my camera closer to the ready position. It also has quick release clips which work with other Tamrac quick release attachments like the clips that you can hook to the D ring on some backpack straps.

However, I now use a BosStrap BosStrap - Home Its like a Blackrapids except it does not have the padding and pouches (not really necessary in my opinion ) and the biggest difference is that it doesn't use the tripod socket which is why I chose it. You can also disconnect the strap and use the short strap that attaches to the camera as a hand strap. Plus, its cheaper!

Your Tamrac reminds me of some freebies that SmugMug gave away at WPPI a few years back. They were AWESOME. Long enough for me to wear cross body and rest the cam on my hip. Neporene, nice width. That was probably the best neoprene strap I have ever had!!! And it was a freebie!!!!

I vote against the RS-7 and for one reason: I have to keep tension on the strap to keep the strap from sliding around. For that reason I never use it. Probably end up giving it away as a present or something. I'm back to using my Optech over the shoulder sling. Connectors aren't as robust but at least I don't have to keep tension on it to keep it from sliding around during use.

Get a RS-Sport. Boom.
