I only had a quick hour this morning and there were no Ospreys fishing. I headed back to my car and saw a RWBB, I lowered my shutter speed to 1/500th and took a click. I heard a commotion behind me and saw this sub adult Eagle whipping towards me being harassed by another RWBB. I turned and fired away, forgetting about my shutter speed, but managed a few keepers, not really sure how, but I'll take them.. Comments welcome..

Beautiful!

You take really good "flying by the seat of your pants" shots.

Nice catch, especially at that shutter speed.I can't believe the small birds what brass they have,I watched a black bird not sure what kind to high up slamming in the back of a hawk and followed it everywhere. Was funny to watch the little birds wings flapping so fast just to keep up the the hawk.

I wish I could get shots once in while like yours.

Holy cow! I hope to get as lucky as you! Those are beautiful!

Thanks everyone!

It's crazy how these little birds always go after the big raptors. Always make me shake my head. The Eagle could take out the RWBB in one bite...

Little birds will always go after larger pray birds and other animals when their baby's maybe in danger. It's almost always because a larger bird is encroaching on the smaller birds nesting area. A lot of big birds will grab baby's from small bird's nests.

The larger birds are more powerful, sure but the small birds are so much more agile and quick that the larger birds really can do nothing but fly away.

Kind of like the experience with a swarm of wasps I had today, 4 stung me and I ran like hell to get out of the area and I have arms to swat at them

Thanks everyone!

there was about 15 birds (sparrows, robins, and crows) going after those two hawks in my backyard today.

Very Nice shots! I don't think I've ever seen a juvenile Bald Eagle in person. You're lucky to get to see these types of birds so often.

I guess I should get out of the house...

Kris, nice capture. Those RWBs can be very aggressive. A couple of years ago, I saw a pair harass a Great Blue Heron away from their nesting area. They can move so fast relative to what the bigger birds can do. We all have to defend our home territory some how.
