Got myself a new/old camera

Vintage 1950s 50/1.4- the Canon is hard to beat, but goes for the price of the modern Nokton in LTM. The vintage Nokton- not as good.

I use a Canon 50 1.4 on my M6.. it's ok. Not as awesome as i'd like, but Summilux is just too far out of my budget. I've been thinking about saving for a Summicron, but I like the extra f/stop that i'd be missing with that F2 lens. I also have a screwmount Leica collapsible Summitar that I use on my IIIf.. (it was cheap, 300 bucks) I haven't really used it much on the M6.. I should..

No, how about the Canon f1.2

Soft wide-open, "super-dreamy Bokeh", low-contrast. These lenses used to be ~$250 for a good one. At prices that they are going for today: get the 50/1.1 Nokton. I will post some pictures later today. I sold both that I owned, still have the 50/0.95 on the Canon 7. Those used to be cheap, too. Mine was $200.

Maybe we could start a "50mm lens thread" in the mirrorless section. I have a lot of 50mm lenses, most bought before the M8 was introduced.

They are not cheap now

Just unwrapped it and i don't think it has had a film in it, i will try and take some photos of it, but will have had a few by the end of the weekend

Thanks Brian, what is the best 50mm for the money i'm very tempted by the 50mmF1.1 Nokton £1140 new, £890 used

Nokton 50/1.1: "I like it"= best fast 50 for the money. I've seen it used for $800 or so on some of the forums. It is much sharper than the Canon 50/0.95 and 50/1.2.

I'm going to start a Leica Lens thread on the mirrorless forum. I'm also headed to a camera show tomorrow, last time I picked up some optics and converted them to Leica mount.

i wish i could get lenses for the price you get them, when you sat $800 to me it is £800 which is nearly double what you can get them for

Keep an eye on rangefinderforum classifieds, a number of sellers there will ship overseas.

The last 5cm F1.5 Sonnar conversion that I did went to the UK, the one before that went to New Zealand.

Responded via PM. I always keep an eye open for J-3's and 5cm F1.5 Sonnars to do conversions.

The person form New Zealand bought the Sonnar and J-3, sent them to me.
