There is a small GBH nesting ground near me. The only problem is that its on a ridge on the opposite side of a marsh and you can only see them in the distance through tons of branches. Once the foliage comes in it will be impossible to see the nests. While there I saw a hawk attack a nest and fought off by a heron. No pics because too many branches in the way. But I also saw a Canada Goose, who when he flew in was honked by all the herons, took over one of the nests. These nests are over 100' high. I can't imagine why he is nesting so high. Weird.

1. You can see out in the distance the little black specks in the trees that are the Heron nests. You can see what I have to shoot through. All the shots where taken around this spot.

2. All these are cropped quite a bit.

Obviously the goose is having a bit of an identity crisis. Nice job on the captures, especially considering what you were shooting through

I loved the sharpness in the second image!

Nice set, visited our nesting sites as well, too many branches to get good shots though. Will try and get their approach flights-lol

You saw something really neat with that goose.

Number two for me too...............

Thanks all! Just wish it was an area I could get closer to and not have to do 100% crops.

Good set of shots Brent, some good detail even if the crop was big so nice one.

Great series Brent. I've never seen a Canada goose in a tree like that.

Thanks Tim. I have seen them nest on the roofs of some low buildings, especially around the campus I work at, but never high up in a tree.
