Yup.. that's right, you'll never guess. Ok, well maybe you might guess. Yup.. that's right, I solved the world hunger problem. Since I had some spare time after that I went ahead and hit the zoo.. lol.

This was my first rather interesting encounter of the day:

So I head into the Lemur Island to take some photo's today, I see this little guy sitting on one of the fence posts, he his so close I can almost reach out and touch him. So I get a couple of shots I like when a pretty sizeable group of kids come storming through, they see the lemur just sitting on the fence post and make a beeline for it.

The lemur, apparently spooked, leaps for safety. Not into the trees behind the fence, oh heck no. He jumps onto my left arm and scrambles up onto my shoulder. So now I'm stuck in the midst of a bunch of kids clamoring to get closer to this lemur who is using me as base.

A keeper finally spots this rather odd scene and comes over to get the lemur, who has apparently decided that I am the high ground and he's going to stay put regardless. The keeper tries everything he can to coax the lemur off of me - food, the whole nine yards. Lemur won't budge.. lol. Even starts darting to the opposite shoulder when the keeper approaches. The kids are laughing and screaming, the keeper is going out of their mind worried I might get scratched or bit and a law suit might ensue, and me and the Lemur are just standing there hoping everyone else will calm down enough to let us get a minute of peace.

So finally I start backing up slowly till I get against the fence, there's an overhanging branch that I moved next too, and after a few minutes the lemur finally caught onto the idea, leapt to the branch and escaped.

...pics or it didn't happen.

You can't tell me you and the lemur didn't take a selfie

Well I think we both wanted too, especially during that time frame where he was perched on top of my head. However we got into a big brouhaha over who would actually own the copyright, and well before we could work it out we parted ways... lol.

Actually I wasn't really thinking about trying to get a pic, and I wasn't really worried about getting scratched or bit so much as I just really didn't want him having an "accident" while he was up there, I really didn't want Lemur poo in my hair.

Awww, poor little cutie

If a group of screaming kids ran at me, you bet your bippy I'd hightail it out of there.

I can see where the copyright would be of some concern. You know those monkeys are hard nosed to deal with.

as far as poo- you cannot make me believe as much as you're at the zoo you have not had some nasty poo experience already :D

To bad he climbed off, it would have been a snazzy hat!!!;)

Actually the worst that comes to mind didn't happen at the zoo, it was at a local lake I go to sometimes. A flock of Canadian geese - they were taking off just as I was pulling in - I managed to get a couple of quick shots out the car window, they responded with an organized dive bombing attack.. lol.

The Lemur whisperer  It's times like these you wish you had a photography partner, you'd have a few keepers for the rest of your life :(
As a photograph the last one is my favorite, but the second one is really funny too.. :D

So when are you getting your D7100??

Lol.. guess it's just what I get for looking so much like a big ugly tree. Oh well. The D7100 will be arriving Thursday next week :)

We will need pictures, and a lot of them. And who knows, maybe you'll even visit the zoo for once :-P
I'm eyeing the D5200/D5300, but you know how it is, we always want to get the camera just out of our reach :-P.. I might just wait it out and get the D7100 depending on your feedback. :)

Well I certainly couldn't bad mouth my 5200's, they both gave me outstanding service and odds are good I'll end up keeping the one I have as a second camera even after the D7100 gets here, will have to see how practical that turns out to be before I make a final decision there, they do have pretty different layouts/controls so that might prove to be a factor.

The zoo huh? Hmm.. you know, it's just so crazy it might work!

Lol

Ok, well you are welcome to scramble up my shoulder should such an emergency arise, however the same stricture of not pooing in my hair still applies..

Lol
