HDMI help with both D800 and Canon 5D Mark III?

During a recent studio shoot I assisted we used a brand new D800 and a brand new 5D Mk III and had problems with the HDMI functionality for both cameras tethered to a studio monitor.

The data took forever to get to the monitor, and if a "bunch of shots were popped in rapid succession", the cameras or monitor seems to buffer and reject all the data. No image appeared in this case with either camera.

Can you goo-roo's tell me the fix for this? I read the Nikon manual plus googled to no avail.

****We put the standard chord on the Canon, and found although the monitor worked correctly the fuzzy pics (we used to be pleased with) were totally undesirable compared to the quality of pics on the HDMI cable! =)

I was suspecting the same thing about the LCD monitor/TV we were using, because its happening with both cameras (and only on the HDMI port), and not the analog.

I'd like to know if anyone else has had the problem and what the final work around is or which product may work? It would be unrealistic for both cameras not to be able to tether to a standard studio monitor

Thom Hogan has mentioned that the HDMI-out instructions for VIDEO on the D800 are NOT COMPLETE in the official Nikon manual for the camera...he is truly a Nikon guru...perhaps you ought to buy his Complete Guide to The Nikon D800/D800e e-Book, so you'll have a full,complete explanation of the ENTIRE camera and its full scope of operation--something that the Japanese and Nikon cannot ever do nearly as well as Mr. Hogan has for the last 17 Nikon camera models.

Capture One pro is probably the best for teathering

Lightroom 4 teathers well too, we're trying to go to a large studio monitor, not a PC. I appreciate the help though!

Yeah I need to order it but I was hoping someone that uses a studio with a standard studio HDTV monitor could chime in without me going to extreme measures =)

I could call Canon or Nikon support too but i'd rather read 4 books and take an arrow to the knee LoL

I amazed no one else has seen this problem from the D800 or MKIII cam to the HDMI monitor in a studio!

One thing i found in the manual and applies to both cameras is HDMI out is set to "auto" which transfers highest resolution possible. I suspect if I change the setting from auto to "manual 720" it might transfer at a faster rate (instead of 1080). I dunno.
