Took it this morning in Old Montreal. I work in the area so I have so many different shots. So many stone buildings, cobble stone roads, narrow roads etc etc...just a very European feel. Let me know what you guys think.

I've seen worse. I'm not a fan of most HDRs. This isn't too bad, but it still has some halos and an odd color cast.

it looks good but doesnt look like a real photo.

you have it made in montreal; won't be running out of cityscapes or details anytime soon

nice color, but the effect makes it seem 1 dimensional to me

You clipped the top left of the building...

Also, you've got some halo'ing going on. Less than most first HDR posts I've seen, but some nonettheless.

I agree with the others. HDR ain't my thing really. I can see the artistic angle of them, but really it seems less like "art" photography and more about clicking some buttons on your computer screen....they just don't have that romantic feel. And the colorcast HikinMike mentioned doesn't help matters....it is an awfully blue cast that gives it such a gloomy feel. I don't know if that was what you wer egoing for, and if it is then ok you did your job. If not well...

And again I agree with the others about the haloing and the comment about clipping the roof of the building.

Thanks guys. I guess it's just the graphic artist in me, by trade, that loves this style of picture. I do agree that it was a little out there.

I used three different exposures for the one below but played around with it in photoshop instead of Photomatix...much more subtle IMO but i don't really like the composition.

It was a gloomy morning...dark gray skies, it had just finished snowing a little, still kind of dark...not as bad as the edited picture but still not the best of morning :D

Not bad for your first try, but the sky ruins it for me. Do you notice how it looks like you painted in very sloppy because of the haloing effect? Look at the branches of the tree where its especially bad, very spotty. You also clipped the top and side of the building. If you hadn't clipped the building and went a little easier on the HDR effects ( or changed how many stops you bracketed or how many pics used ) this would have been a really cool shot.

Agreed...i don't know if i'm just blind but I can't spot the haloing! I guess i'm not sure what i'm looking for. Anyway, it's my first time at it...i'll make sure to tone it down next time. I still have my original files so i could always redo it.

I was so in a rush (walking to work) that I didn't even know I clipped the building until i got home. I also only used 3 pics (normal exposure, 2 full stops underexposed and 2 full stops overexposed)
