Help - Lens buying

It's a plastic mount but don't let that put you off.
It's a very light lens and metal is hardly necessary.

I've recently bought one and am very happy with it.

Yes a metal mount is obviously nicer to have but a plastic one won't be a problem with a lens as light as a 50mm, not unless you're very careless with it. Obviously if it were a heavy lens it would be a different matter. Of course in addition to the lens mount there is the question of overall build quality, and the older ones may be better in that respect... but again it's a 50mm f/1.8, not the sort of lens that's very likely to get knocked about in the same way a longer lens would.
