Photos NOT OK to edit
So today I went to Best Buy and got to hold the T2i, 60D and 7D.

I like everything about the T2i except the toy camera feeling. But I do know it can take exceptional photos when paired with a nice lens too.

The 60D, I really like everything EXCEPT the screen. I just don't like the articulating screen, and even though you can put it back into place, I just don't like the way it looks. But everything else is really nice, it doesn't feel so plastic like the T2i.

The 7D..could find nothing wrong with it. But I'm about 200$ short for getting just the body only from Best Buy. :grumpy: then I'd have to get a whole new memory card for it since it doesn't use SD and that's another 50 or so.:er: Then the 150$ or so for the protection plan..

But then the 7D Used "Like New, body only, barely 50 clicks, original accessories in box" is 1300 on Amazon..but no protection.

My ultimate camera is the 5D Mark II, but that's unrealistic right now. :grumpy:

I have ~1300 to spend right now. I'm fine with getting a body now, and waiting for the lenses and shxt cuz I WILL spend the money if I prolong the purchase.:grumpy::thumbdown::thumbdown: I have no self control:confused:

~Although there's a sketchy 1300$ used one on Amazon, by the same guy selling a used 7D for 600$. I don't trust it, though.:thumbdown::thumbdown:

Price Rundown:
BEST BUY-
1200 for 60D + 18-135 <- opinions on this lens?
1k for 60D body only
770 for T2i + ****ty kit lens
725 for T2i body only
1500 for 7D body only
888 for 60D on AMAZON
118 for 50mm 1.8 on AMAZON.

no matter which body i get, i WILL get the prime.

Buy Now: T2i, or 60D
Wait: 5D Mark II, or 7D.

The T2i is an amazing camera. I just traded my T1i for the 60D about a week ago, and I couldn't be happier. I miss my T1i, but using the 60D is helping me with my separation anxiety.

I'm happy with the 18-135 kit lens that came with my 60D. It's a good walk-around lens, and I'm impressed with it. There is better glass out there, but I'm not in the market for any of them yet until I am more comfortable with learning the camera.

I also have the 50mm 1.8, which I got from Amazon. It's a great prime for the price, and again, it hasn't failed me yet, and for the price it can't be beat.

The $150 protection plan is virtually 100% profit for Best Buy, because so few people ever use it. Is the plan transferrable if you sell the camera? Does the plan cover damage caused by user error (Oops, I dropped it. Oops, I forced it. Oops, it got salt water all over it.)?

you dont need protection plan since you will (should) put it under your home owners insurance

It is covering user error (accidents)--however, it can be really useful. Say for example, you accidentally drop it and the screen cracks, or even the lens that came with it. (Only the kit lens is covered, unless you buy a lens from Best Buy and also get the warranty on that glass, as well) Covered, as long as you buy their accidental black tie warranty. There are limitations, but it definitely can come in handy. Although they say that they don't cover water damage (full submersion), I've seen it happen.

All in all, if you do end up buying your camera there I would recommend it. It's a lot better than buying a new camera should the worst case scenario arise.

Yes, it's whatever happens to it, if I did it or if it's a camera error.

Did you handle the Nikon D7000? It's similar to the Canon 60D but without the articulating screen. It definitely does not feel like a toy camera.

If you've got $150 that you don't have a use for, I'll send you my PayPal address. Those warranties look good, but try and collect on it. I know several people who have tried and the hoops and hurdles that they put in your way are so great that they've just given up and bought a new whatever...

Find a REAL camera store, not just a store that happens to sell cameras and spend your money there. I'd be willing to bet five years from now when you're on your way to a wedding reception and just dropped your speedlight in a puddle, Best Buy won't be willing to stay open that extra fifteen minutes so you can come screaming in and buy one (and yes, I realize you may well not intend to shoot weddings in five years, but you get the point).

There is a reason best buy sells warranties, I used to work there in college. They make a ton of profit off of them. If you want protection look into adding it to your existing home owners or renter's policy. There are also third party protection plans which can be purchased online much cheaper than best buy will be selling. Either way, they're not going to fix your camera in store, so it'll have to be shipped if something goes wrong with it. Plus, you can probably get a better deal on the camera somewhere else than you will at best buy. I'd say hunt down a better deal and look at other avenues to protect your investment.
