What's new

High School Senior Girl

What do you consider a good watermark? Something with a logo? Positioned at the bottom right corner or across the center of the image? I'd love some ideas.

You should be able to get some ideas by viewing other photographer's watermarks.

Personally, I prefer more elegance, artfully designed and placed. Or none at all is fine with me as well.

I actually love this photo and I really like her red hair and the orange background. It appears I'm in the minority, however, but so what? Great edit by the way.

This image is technically good, and she has a great expression, but something feels just a little off to me.

My eyes are drawn to her forehead and hair instead of to her face. My first reaction was that you are a little to high above her, or looking down on her too much. That could be fixed have having her tilt her head up just a little. It also may be a composition thing, with her head in sort of a strange place. Perhaps zooming out just a hair would help.

i was thinkin somethin like tht, (i do logo design so tht only took me a minute)

^ I like that...

IMO, the best watermark is the one you can't see.

I agree thats why I make my tag on my work really small but still recognizable but I still think branding your work is key today if your photography is a business for you.

If you use posted images on the net for recruiting new business I agree, and should be used as identifying purposes only that does not hinder the work. But, that's just my opinion anyway. :-)

A tasteful indication of who you are in the bottom border of a bordered frame serves the purpose, is not pretentious and tells potential customers who you are and that you do care about the image.

I never watermark prints but photos on the internet are a different kettle of fish. Also agree that it shouldn't hinder the work. I like Graham's example above, the size and application of it is up to the photographer. :)
