Hope to Impress...

I'm going out to take pictures this evening of my boyfriend. We are both thoroughly uninteresting. I'm going to take a mixture of shot and I will post them tonight barring all the things that could keep me from posting. I hope to impress some of you, others I don't care. If you couldn't tell that was called sarcasm.

Anyway I want you guys to let me know based on the little that I have posted previously what I should consider going out tonight. Anything I should try to avoid, something I should really try? Thanks for the input.

it depends on what you want from the end result. pictures of you two just doing whatever? or something more professional looking, like staged formals?
what equipment will you be using? do you have the ability to bring extra lighting, or are you stuck with whatever lighting is naturally there?
different people here will be impressed/unimpressed with different styles. there's no pleasing everyone, so just please yourself.

Okay um I'm sdtuck to natural lighting, and I'm taking pictures of just him, I just said we are both boring because we are lol. I think I want to try to do some stuff that will look like senior portraits and some that will just be good pictures of him. I just don't know how to shoot men. It harder than women I think.

I think I want to try to do some stuff that will look like senior portraits and some that will just be good pictures of him. I just don't know how to shoot men. It harder than women I think.

the best piece of equipment you can buy for taking pictures (besides camera and lens) is a flash. get a hotshoe flash and a softbox diffuser. we have four of them. when you get the hang of your flash, you can start putting it off camera. lightstands and umbrellas are cheap. then you move on to multiple flashes. dont be "stuck" using only ambient light forever. flashes can make an amazing difference in the quality of picture you can take in any lighting condition.
