How can I tell where dust is at?

It depends on the camera really. I can easily hear the 7D when it is cleaning but I can't hear the D7000.

As I mentioned in my first post, I would recommend Sensor Swabs. I provided you a link.

I can't see spending $14+shipping to take dust off. Wouldn't a artist's brush work? The LPF is glass, not like its super scratchable.

You continue to make very funny postings.

So your many hundreds, if not thousands of dollar expensive DSLR isnt worth 20$ or so for getting it cleaned up without the risk of damage ?

Well I guess theres people who throw their rolls royce away because the ashtray is full and the gas tank is empty !

Go for it. Scrubbing vigorously with a white bristle brush ought to do it.

Meh...just go ahead and stick it under the faucet and wash it off; if you have one of those hoses attached to your sink, give it a good "pressure spray" with that...that oughta get that dust out of there, without the pesky nuisance of spending a whole $14 plus shipping for the right tool.

DISCLAIMER FOR NOOBS, who might someday actually NEED to do this the right way:
Do NOT wash your camera in the kitchen sink (or any other sink).
Do NOT clean your sensor with a white bristle brush.

OP Dude: People are TRYING to tell you the RIGHT way to get that dust off your expensive electronic equipment--either follow their advice or don't, but if you don't, please don't start a thread about how to replace the sensor you've screwed up.

I seem to have dust on my camera. Where I don't know. When I zoom in with my lens, black orbs appear in some images.

But how can I tell if it's on the sensor, the side of the lens going into the camera, inside the lens, or on the end of the lens?

If it's how the sensor, how do I clean the sensor?

Thanks.

Can you post an example of the image? Did you take the photo with a small aperture such as f/22 or something like that? Sensor dust usually don't show up on a wider aperture. And if you do not have a hand held air blower, maybe go ahead and get one. It is not the best for hard to remove sensor dust, but it works quite well for me so far.

You could always find sandpaper if you can't locate an artists brush as well. ;)

I dont think the OP will ever post another question like this again once you guys get done with him. LOL

I took a pic of the sky. Look on the upper left hand corner, and you can see the specks.

I think it's lens dust. Dust on the sensor would not be transparent like this is.

I don't think he wants to do that.

It really, truly, honestly, is sensor dust pure and simple. The reason that it looks transparent is that you did not do what people recommended and shoot at a VERY SMALL APERTURE. F/9 is not a small aperture, f/32 is a small aperture.

I'm on the road but I will take a small ap. Pic when I get home. What does dust on the lens look like
