There might be some better ways to do that.

Procure a lens that renders depth better. These are the high-end professional lenses for the most part and they cost like it.

Have your model pose farther away from the background and set your depth of field to blur the background slightly.

Use flash and underexpose the background and flash your model to the proper exposure.

Use a similar technique in Photoshop to darken the background slightly.

No need to change the color of either your model or the background.

No need for expensive lenses. A Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART or a regular 85mm f/1.8 would do the job

Iwill try that out the next time I shoot. I don't have a flash at the moment other than the one on the camera. Thank you!

I've always stayed away from it. I have a hot shoe but it got corroded from sitting for a year. Next time I'll have a reflector for fill.

Probably be asked to turn in my man card for saying, but some of the most popular dance movies/musicals are in urban settings. My wife and daughter have watched Footloose so many times I remember the warehouse scene. However to me there is an inconsistencie between the setting and your subject. Bright images, bright colors to me don't fit with graffiti covered walls in an alley. I think of urban alleys as somewhat dark and foreboding places, but then I'm no expert.
