This topic was simply a question, nothing was said about not knowing the business side of things, taxes, legal representation, etc. I'm well aware of those topics as I currently DO pay taxes and all the legal junk.
This was simply curiosity, when can you call yourself a professional? Based on the legitimate responses, its a personal choice and a call that's entirely up to the person.
Thanks.
Really? I see no evidence of you paying State Sales Taxes, but I will leave that to your competition. (It only takes a simple look up). Legal junk...like have responsible insurance and soforth?
You were given real legit help. If you don't want to listen, then don't. Pay now or pay later. No one that I can see is out to get you. Frankly at this point, based on your work, no one will care one way or another.
You asked for a definition, and you were given several.
It's very easy, to act on the internet, as if you know it all. It's much different to prove it to clients and the state you reside in. It's hard to get jobs against other pro photographers.
I'm sorry you didn't like my answer, but you asked the question. You can put any inflection you want on the question, but it comes out the same way. Its' OK not to know it all. I don't know it all, and I've been doing this full time for many many years. The best thing you can do if you truly want to be full time is LISTEN to those that do so year after year. You don't have to do the same thing, but LISTENING wouldn't kill you...for sure.
And if this is about "calling oneself something", I could call myself Darth Vader.....doesn't mean I am.
