I had a fence to shoot through and AF that seemed impossible to focus on all 3 subjects.

Couldn't you have tried to poke your lens through the fence and thus get them (maybe individually, as you would have got close!) without it. For it sure is majorly distracting.

I tried that but they spit at you. I tried to go over the fence too. They are curious and come running.

When you know you're going to be driving around having a "shooting day", throw a stepladder in the trunk if possible. Even a short one can be just enough to get you up and over small fences and other obstacles. Your vantage point is suddenly much more open. In this case, these inquisitive guys might have posed for you! :)

Glad you found the Gallery section, too, btw. :) I'm happy to see you posting all these shots!

Thanks Terri, I'm half afraid to now.. little gun shy. Thought about saying Adios Amigos. I'm obviously new to photography and really meant no harm in my earlier photo even if others think differently. I have a D7000 and need the means to operate it more effectively. A friend challenged me to a photo a day for a year on Facebook and I've been posting there and taking photo trips. I use mostly the preset setting on my camera. . I now 'see' things differently and think "oh that would make a good photo." I came here to learn photography and to gain ideas not to get biblical instructions or to be burned at the stake. My ancestors were from PA ~ I moved when I was 3. I don't live in a town where they are .. we were driving through an area to visit our son who had just taken his first job out of college. I was taking a photo of a FARM and horses eating at that farm (not sure if the farm was Amish or Polish or Swedish). That is not Pennsylvania by the way or anywhere NEAR Lancaster. That driver came speeding into my frame. FOR whatever thats worth. Thank you for your smiles and warm comments.

You are the drama that you create.[/QU

Let it go Bitter man.... let it go.. I'd post the photo again and see nothing wrong with it. Others are the drama and If you aren't interested in my photos than go away

this is a great idea!

OP - yeah the fence is pretty majorly distracting, but when it comes to wildlife, you kinda take what you can get sometimes, and learn what or what not to do in the future...the ladder idea is an excellent one for next time. even so, #2 is pretty interesting, looks like he's smiling, and the fur coloring on the face is interesting too, looks like a superhero mask, or a lucha libre wrestler mask or something...thanks for posting.
