Huge 8.9 earthquake!!

Gotta agree with Hertz, if there's a supreme being he/she's got a sick sense of humor!
To answer Mitica's question, having lived in California for the last 25 years and most of it in SoCal the most severe quake I remember was the Northridge quake and since I was about 30 miles away at the time all it did was roll me out of bed.
 
Around 1500 ppl who died from India were from my neighboring state.

::edit:: Just learnt that about 150 were wiped away from the state I come from.

I lived through a 'big one' in 1977. A 7.4 on the Richter scale, I've seen buildings sway, pavement was wavy like water. Scariest moment of my life, I've been lucky to be untouched.

What horrible experience must've been for the people down in SE Asia. My thoughts are going to them! :(
 
Yeah I just saw the videos on the news. Those waves were crazy, that sucks so bad.
