Hummingbird

It's hard work trying to get a decent photo of these things...
Anyone have any pointers on capturing hummingbirds?

But why? You don't need any. This is GREAT!
Only last Saturday I saw the first "live" hummingbird in the butterfly house of a zoo we went to and boy are they fast! To get the wings as "frozen" in a photo is rare, and the colour of its feathers comes out so nicely.

Think you may already have the answer, this is an excellent shot. You could try using speed flash, and a lot of patience,and luck. Ernie

wonderful shot....hummers are so hard to get a good shot of...you did a great job here...

Thanks for the comments everybody. This shot was taken with a flash 1/250 F5.6 around dusk, so the background came out almost black, I was surprised the wings froze as much as they did. I took some in the middle of the day without a flash and had to go as fast as 1/5000 to stop the wings. This was the best one of the 200 - 300 that I took...
