This idea isn't new. In the 80's people in London wanted to give the impression they went to their place in the country at weekends - so they would leave a riding crop and hat on the parcel shelf of their car.
There was also a company that bought used Barbour jackets so that city folk could buy them and pretend they had been working on the farm.
