...and now it doesn't auto focus anymore...help!...can it be fixed or am I hosed?

No it's on A...when I click the button...I can hear it whirling inside like it's trying to focus but then there's a hard stop like it gets stuck...*tears tears*

Did you drop it while mounted on a camera? If so, remove it & reinstall it.

No...I dropped it while holding it...detached from the camera...sucks cause I just got it and used it only once...

the AF motor lost contact with the inner rings most likely. If you can still hear it , means it still works but its not griping on anything.

Any way I can fix that and "knock" it back in place so it starts making "contact" again?

It won't be the camera since the 55-200mm has a built in motor so the camera it self does no regulate the Auto focus the inside motor does. The Lens has contacts which communicates with the camera on how to focus. I doubt you will be able to fix such a thing it would be too complicated. I suggest taking it to where you bought it and try to exchange it and play stupid on what happened, if that doesn't go well ask if its fixable.

I don't think that taking it back and playing dumb is the best thing to do. I am no saint, don't get me wrong but stuff like this is what jacks prices on everything up.

Did you buy it at general electronics store like best buy or an actual photography store.
