16g is what I usually shoot in a day. 1day, 1 card.

Switching is jot as issue. It can be done in less than 30 seconds. Not sure why you have problems switching cards.

More small cards = less images lost if a card is corrupted, lost, damaged. .....

Which is why I shoot almost exclusively on 4Gb cards; 1 card = 1 DVD for second-tier back-up.
