Not sure whether this would still be considered photography, and belong in this section/forum and not deviantart, but since it is a picture of an actual scene, I guess it still is.

I think this photo is pretty self explanatory. Its the first time I've ever done a self portrait of any sort. I've had this really dark picture in mind for almost two months now, but have been putting it off. Last night I decided to just go for it and see what I get. Wasn't too excited about the result, mostly because it was hard as sh1t to get the composition right especially since it's my first time doing anything like it. I couldn't see, I didn't have a tripod, and I had to set the focus before setting the shutter timer.

I'll probably get a friend to pose for me in the near future so I could be in more controls of things and do another attempt at the image.

I like the look and toning of the image. I would probably try to tone down the orange light on the lower part of your arm though. The way it is now, it looks like the light it being shone on your shoulder instead of your shoulder emitting the light.

Because of this, it appears kind of pasted one/2D

Yeah, will keep that lighting advice in mind next time.

I agree with rexbobcat's advice on the lighting. Personally, I would like to see more of the rifles silhouette. Maybe more of a side angle with your head leaned against the barrel? Just a thought...
