I shot a wedding yesterday!!

It was so hard, so stressful. Nothing went as planned. Everything was late. I wanted to run away and throw up a couple times but I did it!!! And I got some really great photos. I am so proud of myself, I feel like I have worked two years learning my camera and that was like an ultimate test. And I think I passed!! EEEEK! I DID IT!!

And I used flash...like the entire night. I was sure my photos would look crappy but I'm going through now and I am just so happy I had to come post this because I am surrounded by toddlers who can't understand my excitement LOL.

After experiencing my third wedding just this past saturday I realized...no wedding EVER keeps to schedule. I usually try to keep them on track. I always print and keep the schedule in my pocket and review it frequently to help. Did you shoot it by yourself, as a second shooter, or have a second shooter?

This is my very first wedding to ever shoot. I did have a second shooter (her fist wedding as well) thank god she was there! The ceremony was outside...pitch black. I couldn't see bride and groom with my eyes it was so dark. It was really, really nerve wracking. It was supposed to be a golden hour wedding! :/

There was a huge wreck on the highway and very important people were 1.5 hours late! We had to do formals inside a tiny room...it was a mess!

Congratulations! (Sounds like a perfectly normal wedding to me, at least from a photographer's point of view).

Awesome...CONGRATS! I really enjoy shooting weddings. Everyone is happy and generally excited to do the photography so it makes it a bit 'easier.'

yea, having a flash is pretty much mandatory for shooting weddings. especially outdoor ones. or indoor ones with crappy lighting conditions like our aquarium wedding.
weddings almost never go exactly as planned...and no matter how many you shoot, it never gets less annoying.
a good wedding planner can be a huge help. a bad wedding planner can be a royal pain-in-the-buttocks. the best you can do is get a general feel for what events are happening when and go with the flow.

the fact that you didnt throw down your camera and rage quit is a good sign that you might be well suited for doing these kinds of shoots.
there really isn't much in the way of photography work that is more stressful than a wedding (or similar one time only events) so if you survived shooting the wedding and managed to get quality pictures at the same time, I would call it a win
