I hear ya. I just want to start from the begining with film. i should just hold off on larger formats and pick up a f1-5 or f100 or something to play with film first. Drooling over the mamaiya 7iis. 6x7 in near pro 35mm sized body = sweet

It's interesting to see how many people want gear (myself included), and how much of that gear is not the OEM brand. I am seeing quite a few tokina's and sigma's. Me personally, the Sigma 50mm 1.4 is sharper from what i've read than than the nikon 50mm 1.4.

I guess if it's an anything goes scenario, then I'd take the $800 and drive around North Dakota and shoot all the cool old buildings I've found. I have big gas guzzler vehicles, so going for a drive is spendy. The rest of the money would be spent on some new digital sound decoders for my model trains. I have so many locomotives that need them I just dont even think about it and just run the trains I have converted already. Even $800 wouldnt go very far for sound decoders, bt something is better than nothing =)

Funny you should ask....I have $800 sitting in my savings account. And there it will stay until the D400 comes out. Then i will sell my D300s, add a couple hundred to the fund and have the D400. Assuming they ever release it and it gets favorable reviews.
