What's new

I'm old.

Time to retire!

Well, I have been anxious to start my new life as the crazy cat lady living in a box behind the Pizza Hut...

Hey, here's another reference they don't get:
There were years when I taught Eng 101 in the Fall and invariably ended up with a class on the Wed before Thanksgiving. I'd have 4-5 out of 25 students show up. To reward them and punish the others, I'd give those 4-5 students a chance for extra credit on the final but not anyone else. But it was always a secret. Since my finals were always essays, I'd tell those students that they'd get 5 extra points if they included the word "Eskimo" in their essay and underline it. They didn't even have to incorporate it into the essay. All they had to do is randomly insert "Eskimo" and make sure it was underlined. If anyone other than those students did that, I'd know they told others and no one would get the credit. It would only work if only those students who showed up included Eskimo on their final.

Now see who here will get that reference ;)

I just had hip surgery last Wednesday.

HIP SUGERY.

Hip surgery is for old people, right?

[shudder.]

When was the defining moment when you realied you were old?

(anyone under 30 replies and I will hobble over to your place and shake my cane at you.)

Dunno. I look in the mirror and see some gray hair, more wrinkles. So what. I'm going on 61 but I can still press the button.

2014 Gathering of the Juggalos.

Realize I have only been to one rock concert in the 1970's. I can still out shoot kids or old farts.

I got to drop 20 or 25 pounds. Been eating too much crap sitting in front of the computer doing PP and printing. I am a leader in hand printed artists' books. Just finished up the prototype for this project.

Bikers' Mardi Gras

Took 5 straight weeks of hard PP work to get the prototype printed. Then made a proof copy. Now am placing copies with institutions.

Photography is not healthy, at least not in front of the computer doing PP and printing. If I was a landscape photog carrying round an 8 x 10...OK. But I am not a tripod photog.

If I don't drop the weight I will add another 20 - 24 pounds on top of that with my backpack of 3 Leicas and a Fuji and lenses when I have my next project to shoot.

Is that a Heathers reference?

The first time I realized I was old was when i ran into the little girl I babysat as a teenager and she was married with 3 kids.

I'll be 50 in less than a month (shhh, i dont want to talk about it). I look about 40 and feel like I'm 30 except for my right knee which is at least 65! Like sm4 I'm avoiding knee surgery as long as I am still mobile.

I'll be 65 this year and my biggest problem is I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Maybe it's too late and I won't ever grow up. And then there are the physical problems. Grrrr!

Heathers, yes! 5 extra credit points to you! :)

You're lucky - your former baby-sittee was just married with kids. Mine was arrested on 7 felony counts of possession w/ intent to sell!

I turned 29 in November. That being said, I bet I've got more gray hair than most of you.

I wouldn't even know if that were true. I haven't seen my real hair color in more than 10 years :laugh2: Having said that, there's a distressing amount of grey in my roots at the moment and I need to do my hair soon!

I've been finding white hairs in my goatee lately. A lot of them...

New Years day I was watching Back to the Future 2 with my daughter and the year in the future that they go to is 2015!!! Having seen that movie on its original release in 1989, that was a rude reminder of my age, lol. That being said, I want my hover board or jet pack before I'm too old to enjoy them.
