Image too soft or a bit out of focus? Use this clever technique

So in photoshop create a copy of the first layer and convert it in the filter section to high-pass filter, then put that image over the original and change it to overlay and change the opacity to get the desired intensity. This will extract a lot of detail out of the image without introducing too much noise.
