info on photography

I'm really here for learning, I dont expect 2 have a budget under 1000 and expect the world out of it, but its a starter for me 2 get some kind of experience as its not gonna be profitable for me in the beginning but rather a learning experience n gaining as much knowledge as possible. For me its not necessarily about seeing it as a "million dollar budget" and backing out because i dont have the money. I just really want to know where can i start looking for resourses or fundamental books, understand?

yes i do have a camera and access to a library

Awesome! You're one of "those".I stopped scrolling there, and then put you on my ignore list.
If you don't understand why I made that comment to him, then good riddance. There are a lot of people here who offer helpful advice and criticism here. Then there are some who just think they are better than everyone else and make themselves feel better by putting KIDS down for absolutely no reason at all, and don't even have a portfolio to back up their trash-talk. Good on you for encouraging that. The kid may not have a camera yet but hope to become a "pro photographer" someday... well, Trever has a big camera and... that's about it. What, he can be blunt, but I can't?@The_Traveller - Remember, photography's for grown-ups. Have fun mocking people and putting them down. Lovely, encouraging place, this is.

Go to the library! You should find tons of books about photography, about photographers and their work, and how cameras work.
In addition to learning about photography, you really should also read about art, design elements, and composition. The information about visual arts such as painting also apply to photography. It doesn't hurt to get into the history of the art of photography, and familiarize yourself with popular photographers of many eras, and learn why they were "game changers", or why their work is significant in the evolution of the art.

Learn about specific genres of photography, such as photojournalism, portraiture, pictorial...even if you have a point and shoot, start trying to emulate what you see.

This is what I recomend to someone just starting. Immerse yourself in it! Read lots! Take pictures!

from unlearned and inexperienced until knowledgeable and experienced

1) take and post pictures for critique
2) go to library and get books
3) read books
4) go to 1)

Forums do best at providing critique and incidental knowledge that layers on a base gotten in more traditional ways.

Join your school news paper, yearbook or camera club. Hit the library. Learn the basics and you answer a lot of your own questions.

Ok cool thanks alot, i actually have some photos i took, in the process of posting them

The camera i have is a an 8MP sony point n shoot, i really cant remember the actual model # right now

As long as it has a mode where you can control the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.. then it's as good as any other camera for learning the fundamentals and getting decent shots. Getting your head around why and how a camera works is the most important thing, and as long as you have manual control you'll be able to do that.

Don't forget the "business" aspect of photography too...but my suggestion is honestly read and practice. Read and practice what you've learned from reading. Practice. I wouldn't even think of a business venture in the field until you've spent some quality time studying the art. My 2 centavos.

Thats actually my goal right now

I actually would forget that aspect for a while. That comes later. I'd focus on the art right now. There's a point a sensible person knows when it's time to start looking into the business side. Cart before the horse, and all. ;)

Otherwise we start with a logo, a business name, a facebook fanpage, then start looking into how to take nice pictures. :sexywink:

Ok I'm getting alot of problems uploading the pics, would try sending them thru pm, if yall dont mind that is

Also getting probs with the pm still trying to get the images posted
