info on photography

Don't forget the "business" aspect of photography too....
I actually would forget that aspect for a while. That comes later. I'd focus on the art right now. There's a point a sensible person knows when it's time to start looking into the business side. Cart before the horse, and all. ;)

Otherwise we start with a logo, a business name, a facebook fanpage, then start looking into how to take nice pictures. :sexywink:

as I suggested if you read further down in the quoted post ;)

It's all good :D

Work on learning how to hold your camera level, and how it meters the light. Even if your camera doesn't have manual controls you can still influence the exposure by judiciously choosing the shooting mode.
I straightended the horizon and did some other editing. The photo you posted is under exposed, and I had to correct the white balance. i strongly recommend the following tutorials: Digital Photography Tutorials

best advice i have ever gotten. read books, subscribe to magazines, google stuff, READ YOUR MANUAL 400 TIMES COVER TO COVER. this thread is being harsh on you, but do not give up! i had a literal :c face after my first C&C, but it only helped me.

Hey thanks for the advice, it gave me an idea of simple mistakes that can be make that depresses an image. Righ now I'm doing research on nikon and canon cameras, because i want to purchase a new point n shoot, but I dont know much about cameras on the whole, and well my work has lead me to those two camera types. So if anyone can get me any info on both, that'll be cool, in terms of experiences with either or both so i can make a comparison and thus make a purchase.

re: small cameras

Depending on your budget, you might look also look at the new micro 4/3 cameras (olympus, panasonic, etc) they are amazingly capable yet small and you can get a real start in photography with all the options for ~$1000.
