Have you ever used teh 70-200 2.8L II? If you have then that statement is wrong because the mark 2 is one of the sharpest zoom lens even at wide open at full zoom on a full frame body. Which is why I'm not finding "canon 70-200 2.8 II soft focus" when I google it because very vew people have that issue.

But as you can see this picture its perfectly sharp as is.
