Jewelry photo shoot....feedback??

Hey, I'm a 2 month xti'er too, planning to get the 17-50.

I would first work on the positioning of your lights to see what angles bring out the sparkle and kill the shadows. I agree with he vets here, you have to have a dark background to get the contrast you need to show them off.

Thanks for the courage to share you work and allow us other noobies to learn...
 
I am a little lost now....does that mean I need a different lens or that I need to crop them on the computer after??

Well you could crop these pictures but in the future it would probably be better to get in or zoom in closer. Try to fill the frame with the jewelry.
 
I would try a royal blue or, charcoal gray. FOr siler the blue always sets it off. Excep for like the cross and, ring in which case the white seems to work somewhat.
