Just for fun... ISO/ISO?

I'm from the south, so regardless of how it's pronounced, it will still be three syllables.

More of a prefix than a word really, if that makes you feel better.

After spending a lot of time around engineers, I've always heard it pronounced "eye-so". That tends to roll better when talking about something like ISO 9001. The interesting thing about ISO is that photography uses it based from the actual origin of the Standards Body, but just grabbed ISO and called it a day. When I first got into photography I was surprised it was the same ISO basis that engineers use because I was used to some sort of certification or standards following the prefix.

This debate is nothing, go into a room of engineers and throw out SQL!

ISO/ISO = 1.

I say eye-so. I don't hang with any photographers so I didn't know it was supposed to be said another way. I think I shall change my ways. haha

Since there are few around me now that know what it is, I type I-S-O.
Say it fast enough with an accent and it sounds like $%^hole.

Eee-So
Not
Eye-So

For me. Then again, I pronounce it "Vy-Za" intead of "Vee-Za"

ISO is an acronym for "International Standardization Organization"

But I say eye-so.
