Her hair adornment is soooo distracting in this. I like it less than the background, which, I dunno...I don't mind the background or the OOF foreground foliage nearly as much as that awful hair ribbon or whatever it is.

Toddler will not stay still, which I understand. I get what I can. Mom, believe it or not LOVES this one (??)

Do you offer this form of CC...take that off her head??

She looks darling, I think maybe the bow being so white and it looks a little flat from this angle. Even though the background is out of focus there seems to be a good bit of different and colors and lines (the fence) that makes it rather busy. I like the idea of the plant in the foreground framing her but it's a little bright and seems a little distracting.

Thinking about it, what about cropping the right side? that might minimize having quite so much background 'competing' with her and bring the viewer's eyes to her more. I might try some copies and different crops and see what you might get.

I'd think about giving parents guidelines on maybe having their kids wear something more plain, solid colors etc. (like she did with this dress), or explain that a hairbow or other accessory can look cute on her but might seem to have an odd shape in a picture. Give the parent a reason so it doesn't come across as criticizing them.

Can you maybe adjust contrast and tone down how bright white it is? I think that might be what makes it stand out against all the pastel colors and her dark hair.

FYI, the image is too large for nice screen display. At first I was going to say that I don't think it should have been a horizontal image....but then I scrolled down to see the lower half....but I can't see the whole image (without adjusting my screen resolution/zoom).

It's telling me that the image is 1,257px × 1,600px. A typical screen is usually a bit over 1000 pixels wide. Now consider that it's in a browser window and on a website, so really, there is a space about 800-900 pixels wide for nicely viewing an image. Many monitors are wide screen format these days...but as in this case, the height becomes an issue.

Also, the image file will be larger than it needs to be. It's telling me that it's 1,113.34 KB. For on-screen display purposes, you could easily get away with an image that is 800-900 pixels tall and you could apply more jpeg compression so that the file size comes down to 200-300 KB.

As for the image, I think you did a great job of exposing for the face/skin tones. This left the hair bow (or whatever it is) blown out....but that is a much better option that preserving the bow and having the face too dark.

I like the crop better, it brings me more into seeing her face - which shows her personality I think (a lively sparkle of energy!). Probably depends on the size etc. how much you can crop and get a nice print so you might need to adjust the crop, but I find this better. Glad mom likes it.
