Korean fshion Show C&C Appreciated

I shot my first fashion show a few months ago, C&C is much appreciated. Use a Tokina 28-70/f2.8 and YN 560 II Flash

Not bad; this sort of work can be really difficult. I think maybe increasing the saturation in post just a smidge wouldn't go amiss.

On camera flash is the biggest problem. A slight increase in saturation does help, but I think a more significant increase in contrast is needed too.

Regardless of that, a Korean fashon show (or anything that highlights traditional Korean dress or dress derived from it) must be just fantastic to photograph!

We have a significant Korean community here in Barrow Alaska, and while it isn't often I do now and then get a chance to photograph something like a birthday celebration or maybe some other special time when friends wear traditional Korean clothing. Otherwise, what I get to do is watch a lot of Korean produced TV shows that also show off traditional dress. It's always all just a fantastic visual experience, and at least for me your images fit right into that context! The 2nd image, of two young men, is of course the only one that looks "traditional", but the traditional Korean style is very evident in it's influence on all of the "modern" fashions in the other images, even the last two.

It was awesome to shoot, but I wish I had the 70-200mm f2.8 and a better flash. There are dozens of traditional dress "hanbok" shops around my neighborhood and each design is artwork within itself. I played with the saturation a bit while processing, but I'm a bit concerned about the skin tones. Thanks for the advice.

It doesn't relate much to your photography, but just after writing my previous article I had lunch... with a couple of Korean fellows. One of them worked in camera retail sales when he was younger, in early 90's I think. He only does digital photography now with a cell phone though.

But I was describing your pictures to them, and how interesting pics from a Korean fashion show were to someone like me. They did get a kick out of it.

Then the one guy was telling me that his father gave him a 110 film camera in the early 70's when he was maybe 10 years old. He said it was something that was really rare in Korea and nobody had ever seen one. So this kid with a strange camera attracted a lot of attention! He said they all figured a kid with a wierd camera must be working for the CIA!

Who knows, maybe he was! He was also telling me about recently being able to visit North Korea! That absolutely was strange!

We have a lot of jokes here, about "our" Koreans being not just North Koreans, but Far North Koreans. Good for lots of laughs when it's -30F outside.

Just curious, are they all wearing some kind of shimmery makeup? Some spots on their faces seem kind of hot, but it's consistent on all the models so I'm thinking maybe it's just the styling.

Good shots though. Those clothes look more like how I would expect fashion to look. In the US, it seems that the avante garde has taken over and now plastic bags are considered chic. Ha.
