Im looking for a good quality 50mm lens for a 20D. Anyone know of good bargains?

the canon 50mm 1.8 gets amazing reviews...did you want a 50mm lens or 50mm equivilant for the 20d?

50mm 1.8, or get a 35mm if you want a 50mm equiv. If you want to spend more, get the 50mm f/1.4. Better build, 1.4 max ap, USM. Quality of optics are basically the same though.

from what i have heard unless you are going to need the stonger build or the extra stop you should just go ahead and get the 1.8

My Canon 50mm 1.8 is always in my bag. Great lens. There are two versions out there. Older version has the range window and a metal mount. The newest version has a plastic mount and is slightly lighter. Between the two, I chose the older version which I found in mint condition for about $60.

I think thats the one im going to go with (50mm 1.8 ).
If they make a fixed 35 Id rather have that but I cant seem to find one.

Im sorta a newbie to Canon, Ive had Nikons most of my life.

true, and the f2.8 28mm is a nice bit of glass as well, and not too expensive.
