I currently have a Tamron 10-24 MM D1 II Canon mount and would like to upgrade to a CANON EF 16-35 2.8L II USM. I have a canon xsi I bought new last year. Do you think I will be able to tell a difference in picture quality? I use this lens for my real estate photography.

16mm is not as wide as 10mm. In other words, the Tamron can capture a wider scene than the 16mm lens. If you are using a tripod and stop down the lens, the Tamron may not a bad lens. (Review)

As far as the L lens, since it is a L lens and so I will assume it performs better especially wide open. But whether it can do a better job in terms of real estate photography, I really not sure. I think the key issue is 10mm vs 16mm, if you need 10mm with your crop sensor body, you need 10mm and 16mm is not going to work.
