I'd suggest that you get a newer body that will use some of the older lenses and sell your D3000. Aiming for an 80-200mm f2.8 and a 1.4/1.7 tele-converter at some point.

That lens and tele combo (1.7) would give you 510mm equivalent and ~f4.5 for wildlife on a crop body.


One step at a time doesn't take quite so long if you know where you're going.
